5. Storytelling: My Digital Eco Journal

Hey team! Let me show you a super fun idea for our EFL classes!

We’re going to use Book Creator to get our students telling stories — but not just any stories… their own eco-adventures!

The idea is simple: students create short digital books (just 3 to 5 pages) where they're the heroes helping the planet. They can write things like “I planted a tree” or “We cleaned the beach” — all in past tense to reinforce grammar while keeping it fun. They can draw, add images, record their voices, and even include sound effects

It’s perfect for getting them to use English in a creative, meaningful way, and it’s super intuitive — they can use tablets or laptops, and the final books look amazing. Plus, they love seeing their work “published”!

Honestly, it’s a great mix of language learning, environmental awareness, and digital storytelling — and it’s a hit every time!

Objectives:

The main goal is for the kids to practice the past simple tense by telling fun stories about the environment. At the same time, they get to enjoy creating and recording their own digital books using Book Creator, which makes learning both creative and interactive.

Materials: laptops, tablets, recorder, paper, color pencil.

Instructions:

You'll give your students some exciting pictures about the environment—like deforested jungles, dry lands, floods, and more—and they'll get to unleash their creativity by crafting their own stories inspired by these powerful images. They can also add their own drawings, attach videos, and even record audio to bring their stories to life!

ICT Tools: Book Creator

Activity:

Students will create their own short digital books titled "My Eco Adventure", where they become the main character in a story about helping the planet. They will write and narrate a story (3–5 pages) about things they did to save nature, like recycling, planting trees, or saving animals.

They can:

s  Draw or upload illustrations (e.g., a forest, recycling bins, animals)

s  Add simple text in the past tense (e.g., I planted a tree. I cleaned the beach.)

s  Record their voice reading each page to practice pronunciation

s  Add emojis, sounds, or background music to bring their stories to life
